Family law

Sensitive situations call for a lawyer with both expertise and tact.

Divorce is a legal question, but also a life event. We handle uncontested and contested divorces, draft joint parenting plans and represent clients in contact and maintenance proceedings — always with the child’s interest first.

We resolve financial matters: division of marital property, distinguishing separate assets, and prenuptial and marital agreements that prevent disputes in advance.

Discretion is the standard: family cases are handled without unnecessary escalation, and where possible we favour agreement over litigation.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a divorce take in Croatia?
An uncontested divorce with an agreed parenting plan is normally concluded within a few months. Contested divorces, especially involving custody and property, take considerably longer.
How is marital property divided?
Assets acquired through work during the marriage are as a rule divided equally, regardless of whose name they are in. Separate property (acquired before marriage, gifts, inheritance) is excluded.
Are prenuptial agreements valid in Croatia?
Yes — spouses can regulate their financial relations differently from the statutory regime by marital agreement. It must be in writing with certified signatures; legal assistance in drafting is strongly recommended.
